Deputy Minister of the Home Affairs Ministry Vũ Chiến Thắng attended on June 24 a training conference for local cadres tasked with belief and religious affairs held by the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) in Phu Yen province’s Tuy Hoa city.

The event saw the presence of Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee in Phu Yen Đào Mỹ, Deputy Director of the provincial Home Affairs Department Bùi Trọng Lân, Chairman of the provincial Religious Affairs Committee Lê Đình Chương, Dr. Head of the GCRA’s Institute for Religious Policy Studies Lê Thị Liên, and representatives of provincial and municipal authorities of Da Nang, Khanh Hoa, Binh Thuan, Quang Ngai, Ninh Thuan and Binh Dinh.
Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister Vũ Chiến Thắng shared practical issues relating belief & religion, including the development of religious organizations and affiliated religious organizations; social engagement in the field of health, education, charities by religions; religious practices of foreigners in Vietnam; religion-related land; construction of spiritual tourist areas; new religious phenomena; missionary activities in cyberspace. The home affairs official also asked local cadres to enhance themselves on knowledges of policies & laws on belief & religion, professional skills in belief & religious affairs, etc.

According to Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Đào Mỹ, Phu Yen currently has six operative religions, with 71,000 followers and 311 religious worshipping places.

The conference highlighted the implementation of Scheme 43 on professional fostering for officials and cadres tasked with belief & religious affairs for the 2022-2026 tenure, key contents of state policies & laws on belief & religion, and practical issues on the state administration on belief & religion in Phu Yen and neighbouring provinces and cities.
