The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha held a solemn ceremony at Van Duc pagoda in Ho Chi Minh City’s Thu Duc district on occasion of the first death anniversary of Most Venerable Thích Trí Tịnh, former First Deputy Patriarch and Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee on March 18.
Attending the ceremony were Most Venerables Thích Viên Giác and Thích Giác Tường, members of the VBS Discernment Council; Most Venerable Thích Thiện Nhơn, Chairman of the VBS Executive Council; Most Venerable Thích Thanh Nhiễu, Vice Chairman of the VBS Executive Council, monks, nuns and Buddhists in the city.
Local guests at the event included Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Phạm Dũng and representatives from the central agencies and Ho Chi Minh city authorities.
During the ceremony, Most Venerable Thích Thanh Nhiễu recalled great contributions made by Most Venerable Thích Trí Tịnh, former Chairman of the VBS Executive Council to Buddhism in Vietnam.
