Da Nang city: Community of Chinese origin celebrates completion of Phuc Duc shrine in Thien Hau Cung temple

The Chinese group at the worshipping establishment of Thien Hau Cung in Da Nang city celebrated the formal completion of the restoration of Phuc Duc shrine on occasion of the annual Phuc Duc festival held on 19th of the first lunar month, which fell on March 9 this year.
Thien Hau Cung establishment, or Ba temple, is one of famous worshipping places of the Vietnamese community of Chinese origin in Da Nang city, which locates at Phan Boi Chau street in Hai Chau district. This establishment dedicates to a worshipping figure known as Thien Hau Goddess and regarded as a spiritual tutelage looking after local residents’ life. Meanwhile, Phuc Duc deity is considered as a spirit caring for housing and land, known as an earth fairy or Hoang Phuc deity in Vietnamese.
The restoration of Phuc Duc shrine was started in 2014, and completed after six months with a total cost of over one billion VND. The restoration project has been conducted by the management board of Thien Hau Cung worshipping establishment with funds contributed by donors from the local Chinese community.
