The Committee for Solidarity of Catholics in Thai Nguyen province successfully held the 2nd congress of the Catholics for national construction and defense for 2022-2027 tenure on September 6.

The event saw the presence of Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Nguyễn Thanh Hải; Vice President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee Ngô Sách Thực; Priest Joseph Trần Xuân Mạnh, Part-time Vice President of the VFF Central Committee, President of the Committee for Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics cum Chairman of the provincial Committee for Solidarity of Catholics and 175 delegates representing Catholic communities in the province.
Thai Nguyen has currently 30,000 Catholic people with 9 parishes and 63 sub-parishes in nine districts of the province.
The congress selected 27 members to the Catholic Solidarity Committee in the province for the 2022 – 2027 tenure with Mr. Nguyễn Văn Thời selected as Head of the Committee.
On the occasion, the provincial People’s Committee awarded certificates of commendation to three Catholic groups and four individuals for their outstanding contributions in activities of the Catholic Solidarity Committee. The Committee for Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics also presented commemoration medals to 59 Catholic individuals.
