The Committee for Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics (CSVC) in Bac Ninh province held on December 19 the 6th Conference on Catholic contributions to national construction and defense.
Priest Vice Chairman of the Committee for Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics Antonio Dương Phú Oanh and 167 Catholics representing over 14,000 Catholic followers in the locality, and representatives of local authorities attended the conference.
The one-day conference reviewed results of social movements in Catholic communities and performance of the provincial CSVC in Bac Ninh province in the 2012-2017 period.
The event also nominated 37 members to the provincial Catholic solidarity committee for the 6th tenure (2017-2022) with Vice Chairman Tằng Văn Huynh elected as the committee chairman.
On the occasion, the Committee for Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics and local authorities presented certificates of merits to Catholic groups and individuals for their outstanding social contributions over the past five years.
