On occasion of the Buddha’s Birthday 2020 (B.E 2564), the social charity board under the provincial Vietnam Buddhsit Sangha (VBS) chapter in Thua Thien Hue province has launched several charity programs for supporting the poor in localities.
In the Vesak week, the VBS Chapter has presented over 1,600 gift sets to the poor, patents, orphans, etc in Thua Thien Hue province and Quang Tri province with the total value of 500 million VND.
Phap Hai pagoda located in Vy Da ward, Hue city launched ‘Zero-VND market’ on May 1 to support the poor and disadvantaged people affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. Sponsored by monks, nuns and Buddhists of Phap Hai pagoda and sponsors, the market offered necessities such as rice, noodles, sugar, milk, vegetables, eggs, etc, and each person was given 10 vouchers each day, worth 50,000 VND in total.
Earlier, the provincial VBS Chapter also has presented 8,000 facemasks and 10 million VND to the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and 20 million VND to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee for supporting the Covid-19 prevention and control work.
