An Giang is now home to 12,000 Cham people living in four districts of Chau Thanh, Chau Phu, An Phu and Tan Chau. In recent years, through the implementation of the Party and State’s policies, Cham people’s lives have been much improved, contributing to socio-economic development in the province.
This year, the Ramadan month coincides with the elections of deputies to the 15th National Assembly (NA) and all-level People’s Councils for the 2021-2026 tenure, so Cham people usually come back home, creating favorable conditions for participating the national Election Day slated for May 23.
Chairman of the Representative Committee of the Islamic Community in the province Haji Jacky informed that the Islamic Representative Committee has sent notice to the management board of the mosques in the province calling on local Muslim community to proactively participate in the upcoming NA election and strictly implementing the 5K message of the Ministry of Health.
According to Vice Chairman of Chau Phong commune People’s Committee Nguyễn Văn To, the commune has nine constituents, 17 polling stations with 2,839 Cham voters. Up to now, the preparation work for the NA election in the commune have been completed on schedule as prescribed by the Election Committee at all levels.
