Catholics in Thai Binh well informed the national Election Day

The election of deputies to the 15th National Assembly (NA) and all-level People’s Councils for the 2021-2026 tenure is an important political event of the country for voters, including religious communities in order to elect virtuous, talented candidates as representatives of people.  

Vietnam has recognized and granted licenses to 43 religious organizations belonging to 16 religions with about 27 million followers, accounting for 28% the country population. Catholicism in Vietnam currently has over 6 million  followers.

Along with other religions, Catholic communities have proactively participated in movements and programs, contributing to the socio-economic development of the country. Toward the elections of deputies to the 15th National Assembly (NA) and all-level People’s Councils for the 2021-2026 tenure, Catholic communities have actively participated in the preparation work for the elections.

Bac Trach Catholic parish in Van Truong commune, Thai Binh province’s Tien Hai district has disseminated information on the election including voting methods, lists of candidates to lay Catholics during the parish’s masses.

In addition, Priest Vincent Vũ Văn Hướng, Head of Bac Tien Hai deanery in charge of Den Thanh Bac Trach parish also reminded local parishioners of civic responsibilities in the election and asked them to go to the election on time, select talented and virtuous candidates.

Moreover, Priest Thomas Đoàn Xuân Thỏa, Head of Trung Dong parish, Administrator of Nam Tien Hai deanery in Tien Hai district has coordinated with local authorities in the communication work of the upcoming NA election. During the masses of Trung Dong parish, the priest and parish’s pastoral council have reminded parishioners of necessary information on the NA election to select deputies.

“All Catholics in the parish are very excited to take part in the upcoming Election Day”, Priest Thomas Đoàn Xuân Thỏa said.

With various forms of communication on NA elections, local people in Nam Trung commune, Thai Binh province’s Tien Hai district have better understood the Party and the State’s policies and guidelines.

Sharing about communication work on the upcoming elections for Catholic voters, Vice Chairman of the provincial Committee for Religious Affairs Nguyễn Văn Thạo informed that local authorities have closely worked with the Catholic parishes for enhancing information on the national elections this year and Catholics’ civic responsibilities in this important political event in the country.
