Catholic people and organizations in Nam Dinh province have made many practical contributions to community development in localities for the past ten years.
In Hai Dien Parish in Hai Hau district, thanks to contributions of local Catholics, the road through the parish has been concretized with the thickness of 25cm built, five meters wide and one km long, and many trees and beautiful flowers have been planted along this road.
According to Priest Joseph Trần Văn Thiết, the road has the total investment of 1.2 billion VND and the local authorities contributed VND 700 million; the rest (VND 500 million) has been raised among local Catholics for completing the road.
In Kien Chinh Parish also in Hai Hau district, the family of parishioner Vũ Ngọc Lân is well-known for donating 200m@ of land for enlarging a local road crossing the parish.
According to the Catholic solidarity committee in the Northern Province of Nam Dinh, in last five years (2014-2019), Catholic countrymen in the province contributed 20,000m2 of land and VND 200 billion for improving local road systems and building community facilities.
On average, each Catholic family in Nam Dinh has voluntarily donated from 10m2 to 20m2 of land for building local infrastructures.
