Catholics and Caodais in Can Tho City provide support supplies to disadvantaged locals

The Committee for Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics in Can Tho City and Catholic parishes and orders in the locality have successfully mobilized resources from dignitaries Catholic followers and other locals for donating 300 million VND in cash, 56 tons of rice, 9 tons of vegetables, 800 boxes of instant noodles, 3,000 free meals and other necessities, worth over 1.5 billion VND in total, to disadvantaged people and frontline forces against the Covid-19 pandemic spread in the city over the past two years.  

Recently, Mr. Phạm Ngọc Gác, Member of the Central Committee for Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics has visited the People’s Committee in Binh Thuy district’s An Thoi ward in the city for presenting 50 million VND in cash to disadvantaged people severely affected by the pandemic in the locality.

In July this year alone, he spent about 300 million VND in total on social charities in localities.

The charity board of the Can Tho Cathedral parish’s visited on July 31 the People's Committee of Cai Rang district’s Hung Thanh ward for handing over 75 essential supplies worth about 16.5 million VND to families in Covid-19 quarantine and lockdown places in Residential Area No 1 of Hung Thanh ward.

From the beginning of 2021 until now, Cao Dai parishes in Can Tho City have mobilized resources for make practical contributions valued at over 400 million VND to social charities in the city.

In addition, these Cao Dai parishes also donated rice and other necessities worth 92 million VND to disadvantaged people severely affected by the Covid-19 epidemic in the locality.
