Catholic youths in Dak Nong proactively join the army

Dak Nong currently has 135,000 Catholic followers practicing in 2 deaneries, 24 parishes, and 51 communities.

In order to fulfill the annual recruitment session quota the provincial Military Command has proactively encouraged Catholic youths in the province to join the army.

In 2018, among 800 newly recruited soldiers, 246 young members were Catholics. This year, 167 young Catholics is ready to join the military service and many of them voluntarily applied to join the army.

Cononel Lê Huy Hà, Deputy Commander of the provincial Military Command shared that, for the past years, the provincial Military Command has well coordinated with local authorities and priests in the parishes for dissemination of state laws on military service at religious prayers in churches and other religious gatherings. Thereby, awareness of the law and responsibility in recruitment and military service of Catholics has been enhanced. The process of recruiting and calling young people in the Catholic region has been undertaken strictly and transparently, from the registration, resource management to the selection.

Over the past years, the provincial Military Command has organized exchange meetings with 153 religious dignitaries and deacons as well as training courses to disseminate knowledge of security and defense for 304 religious dignitaries, deacons, 176,000 Catholic students in the province.

In addition, the provincial Military Command paid visits to Catholic parishes and households having Catholic youth in the military service, as well as provided supports to the disadvantaged Catholic families with the total value of VND 480 million.
