Catholic solidarity committee in Binh Duong holds 8th general meeting

The Committee for solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics (CSVC) in Binh Duong province held on April 20 the 8th general meeting of Catholics contributing to national construction and defense for the 2018-2023 tenure.  

The event saw the participation of Priest Acting Chairman of the CSVC Joseph Trần Xuân Mạnh and nearly 300 delegates representing Catholic followers in the province.

Local guests at the event included Chairman of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee Trần Thanh Liêm and local authorities’ representatives.

New CSVC in the province for 2018-2023 tenure makes its debut

The meeting discussed results of the patriotic movement and the Catholic solidarity committee’s activities during the 2013-2018 tenure, as well as outlined plans of activities in the next term.

The event also elected 65 members to the CSCV in the province for the 2018 – 2023 tenure with Priest John Baptist Nguyễn Văn Riễn reelected as the committee Chairman.

According to the meeting report, Catholic followers in the province have proactively engaged in social movements launched by local authorities and contributed over VND 100 billion to charity activities in the past five years.

Speaking at the event, Chairman Trần Thanh Liêm praised practical contributions made by the CSVC in the province over the past five years and hoped that Catholic followers would continue promoting fine traditions for strengthen unity and socio-economic development in the locality.

On this occasion, local authorities presented certificates of merit to 11 Catholic groups and 17 individuals for their outstanding contributions in the patriotic movements in the 2013-2018 period.
