Catholic parish in Tien Giang presents free bread to disadvantaged locals

Kim Son parish in Phu Phong commune’s Phu Hoa village of Tien Giang province’s Chau Thanh district currently has 201 Catholic families with 734 parishioners and headed by Priest Peter Mai Văn Thượng.

For helping disadvantaged families during the Covid-19 epidemic outbreak, Priest Peter Mai Văn Thượng has mobilized and gathered resources from local parishioners and other donators for buying a bread-making machine valued at 45 million VND in order to make and present free bread to poor people and people in quarantine and lockdown areas in Chau Thanh and neighboring districts.

As a result, from August 1 to 15, the parish made 1,000 loaves of bread each day, including hamburgers and worth 125 million VND, for presenting to the poor and lonely elderly.
