From September 28-29, the Committee for Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics in Thai Nguyen province held its first Congress for Building and Protecting the Fatherland for 2016-2021 tenure in Thai Nguyen city.
Attending the congress included representative leaders of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Government Committee for Religious Affairs, the Committee for Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics (CSVC), Thai Nguyen provincial authorities, representatives from the CSVC in Northern provinces and cities as well as 140 delegates representing more than 30,000 Catholic believers from 9 parishes and 53 Catholic communities in the province.

The congress reviewed and discussed reports on the Committee affairs and contributions of Catholic believers in Thai Nguyen province to patriotic emulation movements and the cause of building and defending the country over the past years.
The congress also elected 27 members to the Committee for Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics in Thai Nguyen province for the first term 2016-2021, and the Committee’s standing board of four members.
