Giong Oi Cotholic community in Ben Tre province’s Giong Trom district under Vinh Long Diocese held on November 12 a ground-breaking ceremony for construction of its new church.
Attending the ceremony were Bishop of the diocese Peter Huỳnh Văn Hai, representatives from local authorities and large numbers of priests, clergymen and Catholic believers inside and outside the province.
Giong Oi Church was originally built in 1865 by temporary materials. The new church of Giong Oi Catholic community will be built on an area of 500m2 of land, with 15m wide, 33m long and 29m high.
