On December 1, the Regulation Committee of Caodai sects in Can Tho city held the 6th general conference for the 2015-2020 term at Long Thanh Oratory in the city’s Binh Thuy district.
Attending the event included 150 delegates representing about 19 thousand followers from Caodai five sects, one Caodai practicing group and one independent organization in the locality.
The congress reviewed practical contributions of the committee in the past term in ensuring religious practices of the Caodai, conducted according to the State laws, promoting religious training for dignitaries, deacons, strengthening national unity, and maintaining social security and order in the locality.
In addition, the Caodai sects also conducted many social charitable activities such as building charitable clinics, distributing free medicines for the poor, presenting charitable houses to the poor and gifts to the poor students… at an estimated cost of more than VND 14 billion in the past five years.
At the event, the Regulation Committee also discussed the working plan for the next five years, with focus on ensuring the religion’s ceremonial activities according to religious common laws and encouraging dignitaries and followers to take part in local movements and charitable activities, contributing to uphold fine traditions of the Caodai religion.
The conference participants also elected the new executive committee consisting 10 delegates with Mr. Lương Hữu Phước selected as the committee new head.
