Bui Chu Diocese holds environmental protection training

A training conference on environmental protection and climate change was held on Sept. 27 at Bui Chu Diocese in Nam Dinh province’s Xuan Truong district.

Attending the event included Bishop of Bui Chu Diocese cum Chairman of the Committee on Health and Social Actions (Vietnam Caritas) Thomas Vũ Đình Hiệu, Priest Director of the Vietnam Caritas Vinh Sơn Vũ Ngọc Đồng, and large numbers of priests and members from Caritas boards under the Hanoi Archdiocese.

Assoc. Prof, Dr. Head of the University of Natural Resources and Environment in Ho Chi Minh City’s Environment Faculty Nguyễn Thị Vân Hà and Assoc. Prof, Dr. Vice Rector of the Can Tho University’s Research Institute for Climate Change Lê Anh Tuấn also joint the conference as main presenters.

During the conference, Priest Vinh Sơn Vũ Ngọc Đồng shared with the training participants about the meaning and contents of the Laudato Sí message, and the conference presenters provided update information on environmental protection and climate change.

In addition, practical issues relating to environmental protection and climate change adaptation in localities were also raised and discussed at the event.

The three-day training conference (Sept. 27 - 29) was a response to the Pope Francis’s Laudato Sí message with the aim to enhance understanding and skills for environmental protection and climate change, contributing to solve environmental issues in localities.
