Buddhists and volunteers in HCMC conduct social charities in Dong Thap province

Venerable Thích Trúc Thông Giám, Buddhist followers from Vien Minh recitation temple and a group of doctors in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) organized a charity program for poor people in Dong Thap province.

The charity program included the hand-over of a charitable house to a poor family worth about VND 35 million, health checks and free distribution of medicines to about 200 poor patients at an estimated cost of VND 50 million, and inauguration of a canal bridge in Thanh Binh district (connecting Nhut hamlet in An Phong commune and Trung hamlet in Tan Thanh commune) with 37m long, 2,5m, the total construction cost of 500 million VND and about 1,000 days of working labor.

On the occasion, the charity group also presented 200 gift boxes packed with rice, cash, family supplies and bicycle, and provided free consultation on preventive measures for common diseases in the locality.
