Buddhist solidarity association in Kien Giang holds general meeting

The Society for Solidarity of Patriotic Buddhists in Kien Giang province’s Vinh Thuan district convened on November 4 its 5th general meeting for the 2019-2024 tenure.  

The event drew the participation of 80 Buddhist monks and laymen representing 5 Khmer pagodas in the district.

The meeting discussed results of the Buddhist solidarity society’s activities during the 2014-2019 tenure, as well as outlined plans of activities in the next term.

The event also elected 10 members to the Buddhist society’s executive board for the 2019 – 2024 tenure with Senior Venerable Danh Cảnh reelected as the society Chairman.

Vinh Thuan district currently has nearly 8,000 Khmer people, accounting for 8.35% the district population. Most of Khmer people in the district follow Theravada Buddhism.

Presenting to certificates of merit to typical individuals

On this occasion, local authorities presented certificates of merit to five Buddhist groups and 9 individuals for their outstanding contributions in social and charitable activities in the 2014-2019 period. The society for solidarity of patriotic Buddhist monks in the province also presented certificates of recommendation to one Buddhist groups and two individuals.
