The Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Chapter in Ha Tinh province held on Sept. 11 a ceremony to celebrate its 11th anniversary and the 35th anniversary of VBS at Thanh Luong Pagoda in the province’s Nghi Xuan district.
The event saw the participation of Most Venerable Vice President of the Central VBS Executive Council Thích Bảo Nghiêm; Venerable Vice Chairman of the VBS Executive Committee in Ha Tinh province Thích Chiếu Tuệ; Buddhist dignitaries from the provincial VBS Executive Committee; Head of the VBS Executive Board from 13 districts, cities in the province; and large numbers of monks, nuns and followers from localities. Representatives of local authorities also joint the ceremony.
As recalled at the ceremony, the Congress for unification of Buddhism was held on November 7, 1981 in Hanoi and led to the establishment of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha. The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha established its chapter in Ha Tinh province in 2005. Currently, the VBS chapter in the province set up branches in all of 12 districts in the locality.
