Buddhist places launch charity programs on occasion of Vu Lan Festival

Buu Quang Theravada pagoda located in Ho Chi Minh City held on August 11 a charity program for presenting sets of support to poor locals in Thu Duc City’s Binh Chieu Ward, on occasion of Vu Lan (Ullambana festival) 2022.

During the event, 100 sets of support containing cash and necessities, worth 400,000 VND each, were handed over to poor locals.

Earlier, on August 10, Pho Quang pagoda located in Nai Hien Dong ward of Da Nang City’s Son Tra district held a ceremony for presenting supports to children who are victims of Agent Orange, on occasion of 61st anniversary of Agent Orange disaster in Vietnam (10/8/1961 - 10/8/2022).

Joining the event included Chairman of the municipal Committee for Religious Affairs Nguyễn Cao Cường, Chairman of the municipal Association of Agent Orange Victims Tô Năm, and 300 children from sponsoring centers in Da Nang city and Quang Nam province, who are victims directly affected by dioxin.

During the event, the pagoda handed over 100 million VND to the municipal Association of Agent Orange Victims, and presented gift sets to participating children.

In Tien Giang province, Phuoc Lam pagoda located in Chau Thanh district has presented 1,000 sets of support valued at 400 million VND in total to poor people in five disadvantaged communes of Than Cuu Nghia, Tam Hiep, Tan Hiep, Long An and Long Dinh in the district.
