Buddhist monastery in Can Tho holds 13th Youth &Buddhism camping

The 13th “Youth and Buddhism” camping program took place from March 30-31 in Southern Truc Lam Zen Monastery located in Can Tho province.

The camping with main theme “Southern land’s love” drew over 1,500 youth from 13 provinces and cities in MeKong Delta.

During the event, in addition to main contents such as candlelight-up, Buddhist preaching, folk games, etc. there are many activities to help students and pupils raising awareness in protecting the environment.

According to Deputy Head of the camping’s Organizing Board cum Abbot of Truc Lam Zen Monastery Senior Venerable Thích Bình Tâm, the camping’s organizing board delivered presentations on harmful effects of air and water pollution and guided students and pupils how to protect the environment and respond to climate change by planting trees, classifying and treating waste, as well as organized collection and sorting of waste around Southern Truc Lam Zen Monastery”.

The camping created a healthy playground for young people and fastened gratitude to parents and environmental protection awareness.

The "Youth & Buddhism" camping this year also aimed to introduce the Vietnamese youth's studies of Buddhism to countries that will send delegates to the UN Day of Vesak celebrations 2019 in Ha Nam province in May, 2019.
