Hong Quang Buddhist humanitarian center in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province’s Tan Thanh district received the global golden code of ethics for heritage from Vietnam UNESCO Association at a ceremony held on January 01.
Attending the event included representatives from the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA), the Central Inspection Commission, the Center for Preservation of Religious Culture Heritage, Vietnam UNESCO Association, Ba Ria-Vung Tau province authorities and large numbers of monks, nuns and Buddhist followers in the locality.
During the ceremony, representatives from the GCRA and the Central Inspection Commission handed over the global golden code of Vietnam UNESCO Association, the commemorative medal of President Trần Đại Quang and the GCRA’s certificate of merit to the Centre’s Management Board for its outstanding social, charitable contributions over the past years.
Hong Quang Centre was originally established in April 2015 on an area of 1,000 m2 of land and managed by Venerable Thích Thiện Thông. So far, the center has been expanded to 1 hectare and fully equipped with facilities for accommodations of monks, nuns, nannies and orphans.
With the hearted care of 15 nannies and volunteers, the centre is now home to 50 orphans in age from 3 months to 11 years old. Moreover, the center has also actively engaged in other social, charitable activities for the poor. In 2016, the centre presented gifts, scholarships, wheelchairs ... to the poor, people with disabilities and students with difficult circumstances in the district’s Tan Hoa commune, with a total value of more than VND 2 billion.
