Buddhist dignitaries in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province in collaboration with the Agent Orange victims’ association and the social sponsoring center in the provincial city of Phu My held a charitable programs on August 10 on occasion of the 57th anniversary of the Agent Orange tragedy.
During the event, 50 gift packets containing life necessities and some cash valued at 600,000 VND each packet were handed over to victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin, 10 wheel chairs costing two million VND each presented to people with disabilities, 10 bicycles worth two million VND each handed over to children of victims of the dioxin with excellent academic results, and 20 scholarships valued at VND 10 million in total presented to children of victims of the dioxin and people with disabilities for their encouraging education activities.

The charitable program worth VND 85 million was initiated by Senior Venerable Thích Nhuận Phước – Deputy President of the Agent Orange victims’ association, and contributed by Nun Diệu Ngọc Huệ - Abess of Thien Tai Pagoda located in Phu My’s Phuoc Son ward, Monk Thích Thiện Thông – Head of Hong Quang Charity Center in Phu My’s Tan Hoa commune, Venerable Thích Tâm Trì – Head of the charity kitchen in Vung Tau city, and Mr Nguyễn Văn Thuy – Assistant Manager of Cai Mep Port
