Five tons of live fish were released into Tien river in Tien Giang province by the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s (VBS) Chapter in the province at a ceremony held on March 26.
The ceremony saw the attendance of Most Venerable Chairman of the provincial VBS’s Executive Committee Thích Huệ Minh, Deputy Director of Agriculture and Rural Development Department Trịnh Công Minh and large numbers of Buddhist monks, nuns and followers in the locality.
Speaking at the event, Most Venerable Thích Huệ Minh and Deputy Director Trịnh Công Minh called on Buddhists and local people to raise their awareness on ecological protection when releasing fish into the river.
