The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Executive Committee in Kien Giang province held a grand Buddhist ordination on November 17-21 at Phat Quang Pagoda in the locality.
Attending the opening ceremony of the Buddhist ordination included Most Venerable President of the VBS Executive Council cum Head of the provincial VBS’s Executive Committee Thích Thiện Nhơn, a large number of monks, nuns and followers in the province, and representatives of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and Religious Affairs Committee.
The five-day event conducted Buddhist rites for the religious promotion of 146 ordinated bhiksu, bhiksuni, Siksamanana (novice observer of six precepts), novice monks and novice nuns.
