Buddhist chapter in Hoa Binh holds 2nd congress

The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Chapter in Hoa Binh province convened the 2nd congress (the 2017-2022 tenure) on August 17.

Participating in the congress were Most Venerable Standing Vice President of the VBS’s Executive Council Thích Thanh Nhiễu, and over 400 delegates representing Buddhist monks, nuns and followers in the province.

The congress elected 23 Buddhist dignitaries to the new VBS’s Executive Committee, in which Senior Venerable Thích Đức Nguyên was continuously selected as the committee’s head.

As reported at the event, over the past five years, Buddhist monks, nuns and followers contributed a total value of nearly VND 2 billion to social charities in the locality.

Currently, Hoa Binh province is home to over 40,000 Buddhist followers.

2nd tenure VBS Executive Committee makes its debut.
