The Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) chapter in Bac Ninh province reviewed its performance 2017 and set out working plans for 2018 at a meeting held in Dai Thanh pagoda located in Bac Ninh city on January 3.
Attending the meeting were Most Venerable Deputy Secretary of VBS Discernment Council Thích Thanh Dũng, Senior Venerable General Secretary of VBS Thích Đức Thiện, and Buddhist dignitaries from the provincial VBS Executive Committee and the VBS executive board of districts in the province.
Local guests at the event included Vice Chairman of the provincial Committee for Religious Affairs Chu Quang Hảo.
As reported at the meeting, Bac Ninh province is currently home to more than 400 Buddhist monks and nuns, 600 temples and monasteries, and one Buddhist intermediate school.
During the VBS's national congress held in Hanoi on November 19-22, two Buddhist dignitaries of the VBS’s chapter in Bac Ninh province, Most Venerable Thích Thanh Dũng and Thích Tham Sam, have been promoted as Deputy Patriarchs of the VBS’s Discernment Council, and Senior Venerable Thích Đức Thiện nominated as Vice President of the VBS central Executive Council cum Head of the VBS’s Committee for International Buddhist Affairs.
