As many as 100 photographs currently on display at a gallery in Hanoi feature the beauty of Vietnam, its land and people in border areas.
Addressing the opening ceremony on March 23, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong says the organisers have chosen 100 outstanding images from a total of 196 entries, with the photo contest aiming to highlight Vietnamese border areas.
The exhibition showcases the deep concern that photographers nationwide have for the issue of national sovereignty and the need to protect both national borders and territory, Deputy Minister Dong notes.
On display are numerous images featuring the traditional rituals performed by ethnic people in border areas.
Some of the photos depict border guards as they assist local people in the Central Highland province of Gia Lai.
Here are some of the notable images being shown to the public.
The event is scheduled to last through to March 28.
The exhibition will then tour five other cities and provinces around the country, namely Ninh Binh, Thua Thien-Hue, Gia Lai, Kien Giang, and Ho Chi Minh City.
