On January 4, a conference was held in Ben Tre province to review patriotic emulation movements launched in the local Catholic community.

As reported at the conference, throughout the years, Ben Tre province’s patriotic emulation movements in Catholic community have brought practical results, especially movements “All people unite to build cultural lifestyles in residential areas”,  and “building new-style rural countryside model”.

Local Catholic followers actively participated in the movements launched by local authorities and the pastoral council of the parishes for socio-economic development in the locality. They also joined in social and charitable activities of local organizations, including the Red Cross and Women Union, in poverty reduction, fund raising for the poor, medical charities and social education with a total of over 12 VND billion.

At the conference, local authorities praised practical contributions by local Catholics over the past year and encouraged Catholics to live “better religious and secular life” and make practical contributions to build peace and prosperity in the country.
