Bao Ha temple is located in the foot of Cam hill in Bao Yen district’s Bao Ha commune. The temple was recognized as a national historical and cultural relic in November 1997. According to the legend, at the end of the Le dynasty (from 1740 to 1786), the two wards called Thuy Vi and Van Ban in Quy Hoa district constantly faced enemies’ attacks from China. The Le king sent General Nguyễn Hoàng Bảy to that region for defending the land and protecting local people. During an unbalanced battle, he was killed and his body dropped to Red river was found near Bao Ha. The villagers then buried his body and built the temple to worship the general. The main activities of the festival annually take places on the 17th of the seventh lunar month which coincides with the death anniversary of the general.
