On September 16, Bac Lieu provincial Committee for Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics (CSVC) organized a conference to honor “Good People, Good Deeds” in Catholic communities for 2010-2015 period.
Attending the conference were representatives from the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Committee, local authorities and about 80 typical Catholics in the locality.
Over the past years, the campaign for building cultural life in residential areas and promoting a better secular and religious life launched by the local authorities made positive contributions to foster the socio-economic development and improve Catholics’ life. Catholic communities have enthusiastically joint in charitable activities in the locality, including provision of 3,650 scholarships to poor students worth about 2.9 billion VND; organization of free health checks and medicine distribution for thousands of locals at an estimated value of over one billion VND; provision of support for building of 80 charity houses for the poor and elderly people ... with a total value of nearly two billion VND
On this occasion, three collective units and 20 individuals received a certificate of merit from the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Committee for their outstanding achievements in the movement “All people unite to build cultural life in residential areas and live a better secular and religious life”. The provincial Police also presented a certificate of merit to three collective units in the movement “All people protect the national security” in the 2010-2015 period.
