Art exchange for charity with title “the Parents’ Day Festival with Buddhists and businessmen” takes place in Hanoi

On August 4, 2014, the Information and Communication Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) held an art-exchange program titled “the Parents’ Day Festival with Buddhists and businessmen”. Mrs. Hà Thị Khiết, Member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Party Central Committee's Commission for Mass Mobilization attended the meeting.

The program aimed at preserving and promoting noble values of the nation, especially the filial piety in modern society. The participants exchanged with invited guests comprising of monks, journalists and typical examples of filial piety in today life.

Most Venerable Thích Gia Quang, Vice-Chairman of the Executive Council, Chairman of the Information and Communication Committee of the VBS, Head of the Organizing Board said that in the tradition of “drinking water, remember its source” of the country, the filial respect to ancestors, grandparents and parents are one of four most important debts of gratitude enshrined in the heart of each Vietnamese. The Buddhist Parents’ Day became a festival with great humanities values of Vietnam.

The Organizing Board presented a saving account worth 10 million VND to Mrs. Phùng Thị Ngọc who is a typical example of filial piety in Ho Chi Minh city, and awarded merit recognition to donors supporting the art exchange program and the VBS’ charitable activities. The donated fund collected will be sent to temples taking care of the elderly, orphans and people with difficulties in the whole country. /.
