Phu Quy Protestant chapter under the Evangelical Church of Vietnam (South) (ECVN) in Binh Thuan province held a solemn ceremony on June 1 to celebrate 80th anniversary of Protestantism in Phu Quy island.
Attending the ceremony were Pastor First-Vice President of the ECVN (South) Thái Phước Trường, members of the ECVN’s Protestant Representative Committee in the province, representatives from other religious organizations and the local authorities, and followers in the chapter.
During the ceremony, Protestant dignitaries and followers sang hymn and prayed together as well as recalled the 80- year history of Protestantism in Phu Quy island. Pastor Thái Phước Trường also delivered a preaching to pay tribute to people who have contributed to pastoral services over the past 80 years.
With its history of 80 years Phu Quy island, thanks to efforts of pastors, commissioned pastors, missionaries and followers, Phu Quy Protestant chapter and its followers are currently working together to develop the Church as well as promote socio-economic development in the island.
