522 Buddhists participate in organ donation program launched by Giac Ngo pagoda

Giac Ngo pagoda located in Ho Chi Minh City in collaboration with the National Center for Organ Transplantation and Coordination held on December 6 a registration ceremony for donating organs and cadavers for medical purposes.  

During the event, 522 lay Buddhists registered for organs and cadavers donation.

According to Deputy Director of the National Center for Organ Transplantation and Coordination Nguyễn Hoàng Phúc, Giac Ngo pagoda was the first Buddhist establishment to mobilize organs and cadavers donation for medical purposes. Since 2015, nearly 4,500 people have registered at the pagoda, accounting for more than ten percent of the total registration in the country.
