The Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Chapter in Bac Ninh province held a solemn ceremony on Sept. 6 for celebrating the VBS’s 35th anniversary.
Attending the ceremony also included Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee in the province Nguyễn Hữu Quất and representatives of the Central Vietnam Buddhist Sangha.
As reported at the ceremony, in its 35-year development in Bac Ninh province, the VBS’s Chapter established its subordinate bodies in all of the province’s districts and city. It currently has over 400 Buddhist monks and nuns, one Buddhist college, and about 600 worshipping places.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Secretary Nguyễn Hữu Quất congratulated the VBS in Bac Ninh province on their achievements in the past 35 years and praised Buddhist dignitaries and followers in the province for their practical contribution to the socio-economic development in the locality.
On the occasion, Bac Ninh provincial authorities presented certificates of merit to several Buddhist groups and followers for their outstanding contributions in social activities.
