Bui Chu diocese successfully hosted on November 19-20 the 17th Northern Youth Day in Phu Nhai Basilica in Xuan Truong district, Nam Dinh province.
The event themed “Coming back to relatives” saw the presence of Archbishop Marek Zalewski, Holy See’s non-residential envoy to Vietnam, Archbishop of Hanoi Archdiocese Joseph Vũ Văn Thiên, Bishop of Bui Chu diocese Toma Vũ Đình Hiệu and large numbers of bishops, priests and over 20,000 Catholic youth from 11 dioceses in Vietnam North.
Distinguished guests at the event included Deputy Director of the Catholic Affairs Department under the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Đào Thị Đượm and representatives from local authorities.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Youth Day, Archbishop Joseph Vũ Văn Thiên urged young Catholics to go back to their families and traditional values for developing of the Church and the society.
On the occasion, authorized by Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs, Deputy Director Đào Thị Đượm extended congratulations and successes to the Youth Day.
