Book on Hoa Hao Buddhism republished

The book "Understanding of Hoa Hao Buddhism" compiled by late Professor Nguyễn Văn Hầu has been republished by Saigon Books and the Religious Publishing House.

Published for the first time in 1969, the book has been so far still a valuable reference for today's readers.

With a comprehensive covering of Hoa Hao Buddhism, including the history and development of the religion and its social influence inside and outside the country, the book provides Hoa Hao Buddhist followers as well as general readers, scholars inside and outside the country a systematic approach and detailed information on the religion founded in Vietnam in early 20th century.

Scholar Nguyễn Văn Hầu, with the pen name of Bút Trạch, was born in An Giang in 1922 and died in 1995. He made significant contributions to development of Hau Giang region’s history. He also had in-depth understanding of Chinese and French languages, and made practical researches on archaeology and civilization in many Asian countries, especially Japan and India.
