Hanoi Cathedral

Hanoi Cathedral, also known as Saint Joseph's Cathedral, is the oldest Roman Catholic churches in Hanoi. It was inaugurated on Christmas Day 1886, two years after its construction. Its design is similar to the architecture of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris.

Located at 40 Nha Chung street, Hoan Kiem district, Hanoi Cathedral is 64.5m in length, 20.5m in width with two bell towers of 31.5m-height. Though the appearance of the cathedral, from the doors, the colourful window glass, to the religious paintings for decoration follows Western style, the main interior part is decorated in Vietnamese way with two typical colours-yellow and red. Outside, in front of the cathedral is the statue of Mother Maria.

Ham Long church

Still located in Hanoi Old Quarter of Hoan Kiem, Ham Long Church that faces Ham Long and Ngo Thi Nham streets is considered one of the most beautiful churches in Hanoi.

The Church under Archdiocese of Hanoi is the place for the religious practices of Hanoi parishioners and the major church of Ham Long parish.

The work of the church was designed by a Vietnamese architect. The 17m high church was completed in December 1934. The columns and altars are decorated with rope motifs like those on the tunic of the Francis order. The church’s patron saint is St. Anthony of Padua.

Cua Bac Cathedral

Cua Bac Cathedral, one of the most beautiful churches in Hanoi, is located at No. 56 Phan Dinh Phung Street, Ba Dinh District. It is built at the northern gate of the Thang Long citadel so it is named Cua Bac Church. It was built in 1931-1932 (some documents said that it was built in 1927 under the French rule) by a French priest cum architect, combining the Asian – European style. It does not follow the rules of symmetry, with a high bell tower on the right and in balance with the central dome.

The Cua Bac Cathedral is not only a religious address but also an architectural work with many unique features.

In November, 2006, the Cua Bac Catholic Church became the venue of joint worship service of the Vietnamese Catholics and Protestants with participation of the United States President George W. Bush, who was on an official visit to Viet Nam.

Phung Khoang Church

The church is located in the village of Phung Khoang in Trung Van commune, Tu Liem district, Ha Noi, close to Ha Noi - Ha Dong road, about 10 km from the Sword Lake. The space here is typical for a peaceful rural Viet Nam. The church was built in 1910, in French neoclassical architecture.
