Activities held nationwide to commemorate Hung Kings

Localities across Vietnam held activities in commemoration of the Hung Kings, the legendary founders of the country on April 18 or the 10th of the third lunar month.

At the special national historical relic site of Hung Kings Temple in Viet Tri city, the northern province of Phu Tho, large numbers of officials of the Party, State, ministries, sectors, central agencies and localities, along with people from nationwide attended a grand festival.

The festival featured a wide array of folk and cultural activities, including a procession, offerings of incense and flowers, xoan singing, and a “banh chung” (square glutinous rice cake), and “banh giay” (a round sticky rice cake) cake contest, etc.

In Hung Yen province, a ceremony to mark the death anniversary of Hung Kings held at the Lac Long Quan and Au Co temple.

 In Nghe An province, Vinh city authorities and local people performe rituals commemorated Hung Kings in Hong Son Temple located in Vinh city with activities including offerings of incense and flowers, art performances, sports competition.

In Nha Trang city, the municipal city authorities and locals hold a ceremony to commemorate the death anniversary of Hung Kings

In Lam Dong province, local authorities hold a solemn ceremony at Au Lac temple to commemorate Hung Kings, with incense and flower offerings and other cultural and folk activities.

A ceremony held at the Lac Giao temple - a national historical and cultural relic in Buon Ma Thuot city, the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak features with Ede ethnic group’s gong performance, gongs and drum beating at the opening ceremony, and incense and flower offerings to the Hung Kings.

In Ho Chi Minh City, the ceremony to commemorate the death anniversary of Hung Kings takes place at the Hung Kings Memorial Site in in the National History – Culture Park with cultural activities such as a “chung” cake wrapping contest, camping, a book fair, traditional martial art performances, dragon dances, drum festivals, folk game booths, and artistic programs.

In the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho, the ceremony to mark the death anniversary of Hung Kings held at the Hung Kings temple in Binh Thuy district.

In Ca Mau province, the ceremony was organized in Hung Kings Temple located in Giao Khau village of Thoi Binh district’s Tan Phu commune
