Buddhists releases over 12 tons of fish into Red River

Over 15 thousands of people attended a fish release ceremony at Bat Trang temple located in Gia Lam district, Hanoi city with more than 12 tons of fish set free into the Red River.

More than 12 tons of live fish in oxygen-filled sacks had already been delivered. This is the fifth event organized by Phat Quang ashram in Vietnam North

The fish moved to barges for being set free into the river

The ceremony aims at promoting compassion for all sentient beings and helps protecting the environment and the ecological balance

Upon being released, the fish received blessings from Senior Venerable Thích Chân Quang and Buddhists

Released fishes consist of carp, mud carp and other fishes
