The United Nations (UN) Day of Vesak 2019 is scheduled to take place in Tam Chuc pagoda, Kim Bang district, in the Northern province of Ha Nam from May 12-14 with the main theme of “Buddhist Approach to Global Leadership and Shared Responsibilities for Sustainable Societies”.
Joining the festive atmosphere of the worldwide Buddhist community for celebrating the sacred events associated the Buddha’s life, the Vietnamese Buddhist community has organized many activities to celebrate the Buddha's Birthday and welcome the 16th UN Day of Vesak:

In the evening of May 5, Nghinh Luong Temple in the central city of Hue lights up seven giant lotus lanterns on Huong river, as part of activities welcoming the upcoming United Nations Vesak celebrations
Also in Hue City on May 5, an exhibition with the theme "Fine art materials, UN Day of Vesak celebrations in Vietnam” opened at Lieu Quan Buddhist Cultural Center
The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s chapter in Dien Bien province held on May 5 a grand ceremony for celebrating Buddha’s Birthday ahead of the UN Day of Vesak 2019 and the 65th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory
The charity board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)'s chapter in Da Lat city presented 265 health insurance cards to needy people in the city ahead of the UN Vesak celebration
