On August 1, 65 Khmer Theravada Buddhist temples in districts of Tri Ton, Tinh Bien, Chau Thanh, Chau Phu and Thoai Son in An Giang province officially began the Summer Retreat 2015 – B.E 2559.
The three-month annual summer retreat this year will be held from June 16th to September 16th according to the lunar calendar.
According to a Buddhist tradition, the Retreat is often held in the rainy season. During the annual summer retreat, Khmer monks concentrate on Buddhist studies and practice for spiritual development and enlightenment.
