Executive Board of the Pure Land Buddhist Home-Practice Association issues message regarding current situation in the East Sea

On June 2nd, 2014, the Executive Board of Pure Land Buddhist Home – Practice Association issued Notification No 71/BTS.TW calling on the dignitaries and followers to direct their attention to the home islands, and oppose to China’s brazen placement of oil rig Haiyang Shiyou 981 in Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone which infringed upon Vietnam’s sovereignty, and jurisdiction rights over Paracel island.
The Notification content stated: China infringed Vietnam's territorial waters, illegally placed hundreds of ships in Vietnam’s territorial, enclosed and hit ships from Vietnam’s fishery surveillance force and Marine Police, making the East Sea situation more complicated and dangerous. Vietnamese people have strongly opposed to China’s illegal placement of oil rig Haiyang Shiyou 981 in the continental shelf of Vietnam.
Together with Vietnamese people, members and followers of Pure Land Buddhist Home- Practice Association supported the guidelines of Vietnam Government for peaceful protest against China’s provocative acts and requested China to withdraw the HD 981 rig oil from Vietnam continental shelf.
