The northern province of Ha Nam has been making all efforts for the United Nations (UN) Day of Vesak 2019 celebration scheduled for May 12-14 at the Tam Chuc Buddhist Culture Centre in the province’s Kim Bang district.

According to a plan approved by the People’s Committee of Ha Nam, specific tasks have been assigned to provincial departments, sectors and agencies for preparation works for the UN Day of Vesak 2019, including accommodations, security, transport safety, healthcare services, power supply, environmental sanitation, and food safety.

So far, most of essential preparations for the great festival have been undertaken and basically completed, including technical infrastructure items and spiritual architecture works. Remaining construction facilities as venues of UN Vesak celebrations are forced to be completed before April 30, 2019.

The UN Day of Vesak 2019 is expected to witness the attendance of 1,500 international delegates from nearly 100 countries and territories all over the globe, and nearly 10,000 Buddhist followers and people in the country. This will be the third time the UN Vesak held in Vietnam. Previously, it took place in Hanoi in 2008 and in Ninh Binh in 2014.
