Health authorities say Jun Kwang-hoon, the pastor of Seoul's Sarang Jeil Church where a mass coronavirus infection has occurred, has tested positive for COVID-19.
An official said Monday that Jun will need to receive treatment under quarantine at a hospital.
It's unclear when the pastor underwent the diagnostic test.
The official also called on those that might have come into contact with Jun during massive rallies on Saturday in central Seoul to isolate themselves and swiftly get tested.
Earlier, the health ministry and the Seoul city government filed a criminal complaint against Jun for violating the Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Act.
He is accused of breaking self-isolation measures and disturbing anti-infection efforts by submitting an inaccurate list of churchgoers.
As of noon Monday, a total of 319 people linked to the church have tested positive for the coronavirus, according to the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
There are heightened concerns of more infections as members are spread out throughout the country.
