Muslims around the world are marking the start of Ramadan, Islam's holiest month. Some began the period of intense prayer, dawn-to-dusk fasting and nightly feasts on Monday. Others will begin fasting a day later, Tuesday, because of differences over how the new moon is spotted, which is when countries declare the start of Ramadan.
