Some 200 Siamese monks took part in a peace walk from the Wat Lamdin Buddhist temple in Padang Terap to Wat Thepchumnum in Naka recently.

Members of the public also joined in the 9km walk for a good cause.

Siamese Bumiputera Chamber of Commerce president and representative of the Siamese community in Malaysia, Senator Datuk Boonsom Inong, said the walk was in remembrance of all the victims and families of the recent airline tragedies.

“The MH370 and MH17 are both tragic events and this peaceful walk is dedicated to all the victims, their families and friends. It is a walk for the betterment of humanity,” said Boonsom.

The walk was headed by Venerable Phrah Kru Suthep Wararak and upon arriving at the Wat Thepchumnum temple, devotees washed the feet of the priests and garlanded them with flowers.

This was followed by a prayer session.
