Medvedev notes Patriarch Kirill's efforts in consolidating multi-million-person Russian world

Moscow, November 21, Interfax - Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev in his congratulations to Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia on his birthday noted his personal contribution to maintaining a constant interfaith and interdenominational dialogue and consolidating the Russian world.
"A constant interfaith and interdenominational dialogue is your absolute achievement. And, certainly, consolidation of the multi-million-person Russian world, support for compatriots, for whom it is very important to maintain a connection with the Homeland, their cultural identity, traditions, and the Russian language," Medvedev said in a telegram of congratulations posted on the Russian government's website.
The patriarch's long-term service as the church primate is significant not only for it, but for the entire country, the Russian prime minister said. "You have always called for peace and accord, justice and mercifulness. [...] It elicits a great response in society and deserves the most profound gratitude," he said.
Owing to Patriarch Kirill, the state and the Russian Orthodox Church are currently developing a constructive dialogue and making many efforts together to improve people's life in the country, Medvedev said.
The state and the Russian Orthodox Church are restoring historical and cultural monuments together, participating in important social and charitable projects, and instilling in the youth a respectful attitude towards people of various religions and ethnicities via joint efforts, he said.
Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia turned 71 on November 20.
