Lao Front for National Construction and Lao Buddhist Coalition hold the Buddha’s birthday 2014 ceremony

On 10th and 11th of May, 2014, at Vientiane, the Central Committee of the Lao Front for National Construction (LFNC) in collaboration with Lao Buddhist Coalition Central Committee held the Vesak celebration 2014

Attending the ceremony were leaders from the LFNC and Lao Buddhist Coalition, international delegates and thousands of Buddhist believers.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Phanduongchith Vongsa, member of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, Chairman of the LFNC spoke about the signification of Vesak celebration, reviewed milestones in the life of the Buddha and affirmed that Buddhism is always closely attached to the nation in the construction and defense of the country and has an important role and deep influence in Lao society.

He also urged Lao people to uphold the spirit of patriotism and unity; strive for better religious and secular life; well implement the Resolution of the 7th Party Congress of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party; make relentless efforts in order to achieve the Millennium Development Goals by 2015 and remove Laos from the list of least developed countries by 2020. 

The Lao Buddhist Coalition Central Committee conducted a ritual to bless the delegates and believers at the ceremony and hoped that people always look forward to the truth, goodness and beauty, work together for social economic development, hunger eradication and poverty reduction, contributing to achieve millennium development goals of the UN.
